Before you write

A few things come up often enough that the answer may already be here.

Your spine width does not match my printer’s template
Almost always a different pages-per-inch figure for the paper, or a different bleed convention. Your printer’s template reflects their actual equipment and always wins. Use our calculator to understand and sanity-check the number, then build to the template. If you send us the PPI they quoted, we can tell you where the difference came from.
Which paper grade does my “80 lb” refer to?
Only your supplier can say. If it feels like ordinary brochure paper it is almost certainly text grade (about 118 gsm); if it feels like card it is cover grade (about 216 gsm). Ask them for the gsm figure and the ambiguity disappears entirely.
Do you store anything I type into a calculator?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser using JavaScript on the page. Nothing is transmitted, logged or stored. The only things kept locally are your light/dark preference and your cookie choice, both in your browser’s own storage.
Can I use your content on my own site?
Not wholesale — the text is original and copyrighted. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back to the page it came from. For anything larger, ask first using the form above.
I found a calculation bug
Please report it, and include the exact values you entered and the result you got. Calculation bugs are fixed ahead of everything else.
Will you add [tool]?
Possibly. We build deliberately rather than quickly, but requested tools move up the queue when the same one comes up more than once. Send it through.

What happens to your message

The form emails your name, address, chosen subject and message to our inbox so we can reply. That is its entire purpose — we do not add you to a mailing list, pass it to anyone else, or use it for advertising. Messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with the matter and are then deleted. The hidden field in the form is an anti-spam honeypot: real visitors never see it, automated bots fill it in, and anything arriving with it completed is discarded. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
